Theories, Models, Publications, and Instrumentation

The primary tools used in CASA interventions, in addition to Myers–Briggs type theory‚ include the following archetypal models created by Carol S. Pearson and her associates:

  • A six–archetype model described in The Hero Within: Six Archetypes We Live By, developed particularly for individual‚ leadership‚ and character development in schools and colleges. A good introduction to key ideas.
   
 
  • A twelve–archetype model for the journey of individuation for individuals and organizations, described in Awakening the Heroes Within: 12 Archetypes that Help Us Find Ourselves and Transform Our World; Invisible Forces: Harnessing the Power of Archetypes to Improve Your Career and Your Organization; Patricia Adson’s Finding Your Own True North; and Pearson and Adson’s Coaching the Hero Within (in progress). Measurement tools include the Pearson–Marr Archetype Indicator (PMAI), co–authored by Hugh Marr; the Family Culture Index (FCI); and the Howley–Pearson Children’s Profile, co–authored by Patrick Howley and Eileen Howley.
 
  • A twelve–archetype system for meaning management‚ branding‚ and organizational development‚ described in The Hero and the Outlaw: Building Extraordinary Brands Through the Power of Archetypes‚ co–authored by Margaret Mark‚ and The Organizational Psyche‚ co–authored by John Corlett‚ forthcoming in 2002.
