Archetype Training

Professional Uses of the Pearson-Marr Archetype Indicator :

A seminar for coaches, psychotherapists, consultants, educators, supervisors, and others who assist people in personal development. This seminar introduces the key concepts related to archetypes and provides in-depth background on ways in which trainers can use the PMAI™ in group settings.

CE Credits 16, Tuition $495

Have you ever wondered what's beyond type? The answer is — archetypes.

Jung developed his theory of psychological type early in his career. His later work focused primarily on archetypes and the individuation process. In Awakening the Heroes Within, Carol S. Pearson developed a structured system of archetypes related to the hero's journey (or, individuation process). Pearson and Hugh K. Marr worked together to create the PMAI™ instrument, which is a well-researched assessment tool that offers a practical way to measure the presence of archetypes in individuals. While type tells people how they prefer to think and act, archetype show them why they do what they do and what life lessons they are in the process of learning. This two-day seminar provides the information needed for professionals to use the PMAI™ instrument with clients, patients, employees, students, and others.

Participants will learn how to:

  • administer and work with the PMAI™ instrument in keeping with appropriate standards of professional and ethical behavior
  • define archetypes and learn how they operate in human life
  • recognize each of the twelve archetypes in themselves and in others
  • utilize a step-by-step method for interpreting PMAI™ results, including strategies to understand the meaning of high, low, and mid-range scores
  • explore the interrelationships of archetypes, including ones that could result in conflicting motivations or desires
  • help people use results to see what motivates them and keeps them energized in their lives and work (or how they might restore their zest in life

Tuition includes:

  • web-based administration, scoring, and results for your PMAI profile
  • books needed for the course—Introduction to Archetypes, PMAI™ Manual, Awakening the Heroes Within: Twelve Archetypes to Help Us Find Ourselves and Transform Our World
  • exercise packet

This course will be taught by Carol S. Pearson, Ph.D., co-developer of the PMAI instrument.

Purchase of the PMAI instrument is unrestricted. CAPT is the publisher of the PMAI™. To purchase the instrument, call 800.777.2278 (toll-free in USA), 352.375.0160 or click here.

Qualifying Training for the Organizational and Team Culture Indicator

The Organizational and Team Culture Index™ (OTCI™) instrument was also developed by Carol S. Pearson. This instrument provides a means to assess an organization's or team's unconscious archetypal stories and how these are related to its values, strengths, and areas of challenge. The OTCI™ instrument will be restricted for purchase by qualified buyers.

CE Credits 24, Tuition $825

Every organization, division, and team has its unwritten rules and taboos as well as a "story" that, at an unconscious level, determines many of its processes and decisions. Understanding these stories can help organizations make better decisions, help individuals and teams work more effectively within their organizations, and assist in marketing professionals with building better brand identities that can be sustained over time because such brands are supported by real truths about the organizations. In the case of mergers and acquisitions, OTCI™ results provide important information on each organization that can speed the process of culture integration and avoid worker demoralization.

The Organizational and Team Culture Indicator™ (OTCI™) instrument provides a means to assess an organization's or team's unconscious archetypal stories and to discover how these are related to its values, strengths, and areas of challenge. In the process, the OTCI also gauges the relative balance of attention to building stable systems, achieving results, creating and sustaining community, and fostering learning and growth.

The training model includes information about:

  • the twelve archetypal stories in teams and organizations
  • the strengths, values, and challenges associated with these stories
  • the link between archetypes and employee motivation and consumer satisfaction and loyalty
  • ways to track organizational balance and redress imbalances
  • the development and construction of the OTCI™ instrument in coaching, employee assistance, organizational development, management, and marketing

Qualifying Training for the Organizational and Team Culture Indicator instrument is for professional organizational development consultants, managers, human resources directors, marketing professionals, coaches, trainers, and individuals interested in team development.
